This position is with Nutra Co Pack. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 12 months; however, the employment contract is with Nutra Co Pack and is not limited to the funding period.

We have an exciting future ahead of us, with export led growth and strong customer relationships. We are seeking an enthusiastic Electrical and Automation Engineer to join our team full time. The company focuses on lean production principles where automation has led the majority of our growth.
Job Description
The successful candidate will join Nutra Co Pack as Electrical & Automation Engineer, taking a lead role in the design, implementation and optimisation of automated packaging line solutions across the company's production facility.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting a detailed audit of existing packaging line operations to establish baseline efficiency metrics and identify automation intervention points
- Working on and leading a specific automation project to automate the process flow of the bakery and packing facility.
- Specifying, sourcing and programming collaborative robotic (cobot) systems for pick-and-place packaging operations, including end-effector selection and safety assessment
- Integrating machine vision systems for automated quality control inspection on target production lines
- Integrating new automation systems with existing PLC, conveyor and production line control infrastructure
- Working closely with production operators to support upskilling into supervisory and quality assurance roles within the new automated environment
- Liaising regularly with the academic partner at Ulster University to ensure effective knowledge transfer throughout the project
- Attending monthly steering committee meetings with company management and the academic supervisor
- Contributing to quarterly progress reports and a final project report documenting outcomes and recommendations for future automation investment
The successful candidate will lead this project and will work under the supervision of company management and in a supportive partnership with Ulster University’s School of Computing, Engineering and Intelligent Systems as part of InterTradeIreland’s Innovation Boost Programme. The candidate must have a strong electrical background and hands on programming/PLC experience.
