Job Description

SFM Eng Ltd is embarking on an exciting new chapter, designing and developing its own brand of products. This job will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to lead an exciting NPD (New Product Development) project, which will shape the future of our company’s design and manufacturing capabilities. The successful candidate will lead the transformation of the company’s design capabilities using the latest digital technologies. The transformation aims to support the development of new products. This is a strategically important role, and the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • To embed formal NPD processes and procedures within the company to develop and manufacture new products.
  • Develop and embed a professional approach to product design within the company.
  • To produce detailed designs for new products
  • Assist with the design, prototyping, testing and manufacture of new products.
  • To develop and implement suitable manufacturing and quality processes necessary to manufacture and support new products.
  • Compile technical and marketing documentation/information for new products.
  • To manage certification for new products to ensure that they meet all requirements, with certifications included.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Interviews will be held approximately week commencing: 01/12/2025

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant discipline.
  • Min. of 2 years engineering design and project management experience.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland/UK and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland/UK you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Good understanding of mechanical and/or mechatronic machine design.
  • Good understanding of CE/UKCA Marking.
  • Good understanding of quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Formal project management training
  • Six sigma/lean manufacturing training.
