This position is with Profast Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 18 months; however, the employment contract is with Profast Ltd and is not limited to the funding period.
Profast is a Belfast-based hardware manufacturer and supplier of fasteners, fixings, and architectural hardware to the construction, manufacturing, and engineering sectors.

Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing an AI-driven recommender service system that provides intelligent, explainable product and stock recommendations based on customer inputs, technical constraints, and operational data.
The role will involve developing machine-learning models such as clustering and similarity matching, implementing rule-based decision logic, and integrating natural language inputs with structured data sources.
The successful candidate will build and expose recommendation services through APIs, work with databases and data pipelines, and ensure recommendations are accurate, traceable, and auditable.
Working closely with business stakeholders and academic partners, the role will support testing, validation, optimisation, and deployment of the system, contributing directly to the digital transformation and scalability of Profast’s customer services.

this project, in a supportive partnership with Technological University of the Shannon as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.
