Job Summary

This position is with OVVO Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 18 months; however, the employment contract is with OVVO Ltd and is not limited to the funding period.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will lead the product development process of a new furniture connector installation system, ensuring compatibility with customer requirements, budget and other constraints. The role requires expertise in project management methods and practice, rapid design development, testing, interaction with suppliers and the ability to move the prototype design towards serial production to support OVVO’s customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the concept development, engineering, and prototyping of semi-automated OVVO connector insertion systems and interchangeable tooling solutions. 
  • Complete detailed mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and product design activities using CAD, rapid prototyping, and test-driven development methods. 
  • Develop and refine tooling solutions for both male and female OVVO connector formats, including integration with magazine-fed and bowl-fed systems. 
  • Work with external suppliers of pneumatic, electric, and feeder equipment to evaluate, integrate, and validate suitable third-party technologies. 
  • Plan and oversee prototype manufacture, assembly, testing, debugging, and performance validation activities. 
  • Support product safety assessment, compliance activities, and certification planning, including CE, UKCA, and other relevant global market requirements. 
  • Develop product support materials including operating manuals, maintenance documentation, troubleshooting guides, training material, and spare parts strategies. 
  • Engage directly with customers and distribution partners during product trials, onboarding, and technical evaluation activities. Identify and manage technical and project risks using structured product development and engineering review processes.
  • Maintain effective communication and project visibility with project stakeholders, company management, NRC, and Innovation Boost partners.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Northern Regional College (NRC) as part of the InterTradeIreland’s Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in mechanical, production, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics or related field
  • Experience in 3D Modelling and Design
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout Ireland as required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Two years’ experience in a product design and manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in a lead role covering a complete lifecycle of a hardware/physical product
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary project development teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in prototype development and testing of mechanical, electronic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with Lean product development methods
