Job Summary

This position is with Olimotion Ireland Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 12 months; however, the employment contract is with Olimotion Ireland and is not limited to the funding period.

Olimotion Ireland Ltd specialises in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of precision hydraulic cylinders and components. Serving quarry, mining, recycling, lifting, and marine industries across Ireland and Northern Ireland, Olimotion Ireland Ltd delivers high-quality, bespoke engineering solutions. The company combines precision machining, digital design workflows, and technical expertise to meet complex client requirements, providing reliable, scalable, and efficient solutions that support both standard and customised hydraulic systems.

Job Description

This new role at Olimotion Ireland Ltd is critical to embedding process engineering, digital design, and automation expertise within the company, enabling the delivery of precise, scalable, and technically advanced hydraulic components and services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and supporting 3D digital design and prototyping systems (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
  • Applying Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) principles to optimise efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Leading mechanical, process, and instrumentation design, including hydraulic systems, sensors, and controls integration.
  • Developing and documenting operational workflows, SOPs, and quality procedures.
  • Ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, including CE/UKCA standards and in-house testing.

Initially, the role will focus on the design, development, and project management of digital workflows and bespoke hydraulic components, enabling Olimotion Ireland Ltd to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and scale production to meet growing customer demand. The post will also support cross-departmental collaboration, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure the new systems align with company goals. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills are essential for success.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Southern Regional College as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Process/Mechanical/mechatronics engineering or similar.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a mechanical or process engineering role.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) for design of equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, precision machining, and process workflows.
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience in product design, including process, fluid handling, or hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with process engineering, controls integration, and the development of operational procedures for industrial equipment.
