Job Summary

This position is with Niall Barrett Engineering Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 12 months; however, the employment contract is with Niall Barrett Engineering and is not limited to the funding period.

Niall Barrett Engineering currently employs 8 people in the organisation. It manufactures bespoke and standardised animal handling equipment in B2B and B2C markets. It is renowned for its high level of customer service and high-quality items.

Job Description

This role is central to the company’s growth strategy for the next 5 years and will focus on ensuring that we have the right operational excellence systems in place to support our planned expansion.

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing an integrated end-to-end operational excellence system and processes on time and on budget.
  • Improving workflow efficiency, implementing digitalisation, seamless integration of the new production machinery, and developing best-in-class data analytics.
  • Preparation of all associated documentation
  • Training staff so that the new system is fully transferred and embedded in the company’s operations.
  • Working closely with the academic partner and will travel to the academic institute as required.
  • Any other relevant duties.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Ulster University (UU) as part of the InterTradeIreland’s Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Business, Business and Information Technology, Operations or Quality Management, Mechanical Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related area.
  • Practical experience in the agricultural manufacturing industry.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout Ireland as required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Project and Change Management
  • Practical Experience with operational excellence, training and implementation
  • Understanding of MIS, such as Enterprise Resource Planning and supply chain planning and scheduling systems.
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting systems
  • Experience of the animal handling manufacturing industry.
