Mullan Lighting designs and manufactures customised and bespoke lighting tailored to the customers’ requirements. Our comprehensive in-house design and manufacturing facilities provide our customers creative freedom to make their interior design truly unique. Customers include both the B2B and B2C markets. Job Description

This role is central to the company’s growth strategy for the next 5 years and will focus on ensuring that we have the right processes and systems in place to support our planned expansion.

The purpose of this role is to transform ML’s business by designing, developing, and implementing an innovative and world-class operational excellence set of processes and capabilities underpinned by innovative industry 4.0 technologies. This project aims to position ML as a leader of operational excellence to increase efficiencies, reduce costs, boost productivity, strengthen business sustainability and maximise growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing an integrated end-to-end Operational Excellence Intelligence System and processes on time and budget.
  • Improving workflow efficiency, implementing digitalisation, and developing best-in-class data analytics.
  • Preparation of all associated documentation
  • Training staff so that the new system is fully transferred and embedded in the company’s operations.
  • Working closely with the academic partner and will travel to the academic institute as required.


The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Ulster University (UU) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 honours degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management/Engineering, Technology and Design, Quality Management, or related disciplines).
  • Minimum 1 year’s relevant industrial experience.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel to Northern Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in project managing (and motivating) a group of diverse individuals from different organisational levels to achieve project objectives on time and budget.
  • Experience in using key business improvement and quality management methodologies and tools, such as Lean, and VSM to identify and resolve key business issues.
  • Project management skills and experience in a medium-volume manufacturing business.
  • Experience in developing training documentation and Key Performance Indicator dashboards.
  • Extensive IT skills, capability and certification (such as Excel, PowerBI or other data analytics and visualisation tools).
  • Excellent technical communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and influencing skills.
