Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and motivated graduate to join iAcoustics in Dublin for an 18-month collaborative project in partnership with academics from Queen’s University Belfast's School of Natural and Built Environment.

The role will entail:

  • Developing a new BIM-based acoustic service: BIMcoustics and transitioning existing processes to the new system.
  • Taking advantage of the BIMcoustics process to automate key processes using generative design, visual programming, and machine learning tools.
  • Developing plug-ins to integrate acoustic design tools with BIM tools.
  • Attaining 3rd party BIM accreditation for the BIMcoustics service.


The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold at least a 2.1 Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Architectural Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience of BIM processes including the use of Revit Modelling, and development of custom families. Experience could be demonstrated through a student project although industrial experience is preferred.
  • A keen interest in acoustics as demonstrated by research/ experience and a willingness to undertake acoustic training.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • A higher-level qualification (for instance MSc) in a BIM Project Management-related discipline.
  • Experience in BIM implementation on a live project.
  • Experience in computational design and generative design using Autodesk Dynamo.
  • Experience in programming using Python.
  • Experience with music and recording technologies.
  • Experience working in an acoustic consultancy.
  • Experience in delivering training and follow-up support.
