NPD TECHNOLOGIST, GOOD FISH PROCESSING CARRIGALINE LTD

Job Summary

This position is with Good Fish Processing. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 13 months; however, the employment contract is with Good Fish Processing and is not limited to the funding period.

Good Fish Company is an award-winning, family-run fish processor and retailer based in Carrigaline, Cork. Celebrating 36 years in business, Good Fish prides itself on its reputation for sourcing and producing only the highest quality seafood products.

The traditional core business was the supply of wet fish fillets, over time this has evolved into a fresh and frozen value-added retail seafood product range packed in private and in own-label brands.

As well as various Food Safety Standards and Certifications being maintained, Sustainability is a key focus within the business and Good Fish is a verified member of Origin Green since 2014.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an NPD technologist as the company is expanding and moving into a new state-of-the-art facility by the end of 2024. The NPD Technologist will work in collaboration with the Good Fish Company team in the development and launch of added-value seafood products is a key focus for the business going forward.

Key responsibilities within the company include:

  • Responsibility for NPD - to develop new products both for home and export markets
  • To develop packaging and processes to meet the business development needs.
  • To complete trials, scale-ups, production hand-overs and product launches
  • To maintain a strong awareness of consumer and market trends.
  • To influence and participate in the business NPD strategy definition.
  • To communicate efficiently and clearly the results of all analysis and NPD activities

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Southern Regional College as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Interviews will be held approximately week commencing: 13/04/2026

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 Food Related Degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in a food-related role. This could include an undergraduate placement.
  • Clean Driving Licence.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland for the full duration of the 13 month contract. If your right to work is time‑limited, you must provide evidence of your current immigration permission and its expiry date at the time of application or your application may not be progressed. This programme does not provide employment permit sponsorship.

Desirable Criteria

  • Working in an NPD Food Manufacturing role.
  • Enthusiasm and well-developed knowledge of food and ingredients.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Able to use own initiative.
