Job Description

Following a period of investment into new methods, CARD Group have developed a new research approach that derives significant new insights for clients that improve productivity. Initial market testing indicates considerable interest in the market. We now wish to develop an efficient software product that automates the process to make access to the approach cost-effective and scalable.

The AI Software Developer will lead the development of CARD Group’s next-generation AI-assisted insights engine product as part of an industry-academia collaboration with the University of Galway. The successful candidate will drive the technical development of the system, in collaboration with academic researchers and data scientists. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply advanced machine learning and NLP techniques to a high-impact commercial product while gaining exposure to cutting-edge academic expertise.

The developer will be responsible for designing, developing and evaluating the AI-assisted question sets through the creation of a generation pipeline. The developer will also develop machine-learning pipelines for the scoring and analysis of survey responses and integrate them into a SaaS application. The developer will lead internal evaluation of the system components and overall performance, as well as documenting and reporting on the system. The role involves engagement with both industry and academic partners to leverage the latest research in NLP and machine learning.

This is expected to include:

  • Working with clients to understand existing processes and pain points
  • Research into existing solutions to identify merits and drawbacks, and market value
  • Collate information to derive a focus for the development of the system
  • Presenting wireframes to clients to confirm understanding and approach
  • Building working prototypes to test concepts
  • Refining systems based on real-world use and client feedback
  • Refining and improving the system to plan for future white-labelling.

Reporting to our Data Scientist, the position is based at the CARD Group offices in Belfast, and a hybrid working pattern is available. The position is offered on an initial 18-month term with a view to extending as interest in the model develops.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with the University of Galway as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business Information Systems, Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, Cognitive Systems, Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics, Deep Learning or similar
  • 2 Years Experience with machine learning, natural language processing, or data analytics
  • 2 Years Experience in software development with Python
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland/UK and travel throughout the island of Ireland/EU if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland/UK you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit will result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience creating or integrating dashboards or user interfaces (e.g. React, Vue, Dash).
  • Experience developing APIs, working with integrations, or contributing to modular system architectures.
  • Experience with full-stack development
  • Experience with survey, behavioural, or data analytics and data pipelines
  • Experience deploying prototypes or applications to testing or production environments.
  • Strong project management, organisational and communication skills
