Job Summary

This position is with CARD Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 18 months; however, the employment contract is with CARD Ltd and is not limited to the funding period.

Job Description

Help Build a Commercial AI Product from the Ground Up

CARD Group is seeking an ambitious early-career AI developer to help build a new AI-powered SaaS platform designed to support organisations in making better decisions through behavioural insight, machine learning and intelligent automation. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, agile and internationally active company where you will play a visible role in shaping a commercially deployable AI product from prototype through to market-ready application. Working in Belfast with with experienced researchers, data specialists and academic collaborators at the University of Galway, you will contribute to the development of intelligent systems that combine behavioural science, machine learning and user-centred product design.

In this newly created role, you will help design, prototype and refine AI-enabled systems that support insight generation and productivity improvement for clients. The successful candidate will work directly with clients, researchers and academic collaborators to explore opportunities for automation, develop working prototypes and help evolve the platform into a scalable SaaS product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with clients and internal teams to identify opportunities for AI-assisted insight and automation
  • Research and evaluate existing AI and software solutions in the marketplace
  • Help shape practical, user-focused approaches to new product features and workflows
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate AI-powered tools and interfaces
  • Design and develop machine learning and NLP pipelines using Python
  • Contribute to the development of scalable SaaS application architecture
  • Translate technical ideas into intuitive user experiences and wireframes
  • Test, refine and improve systems using real-world feedback and performance data
  • Collaborate with academic and industry partners to explore emerging AI techniques and approaches
  • Support the future commercial scaling and white-labelling of the platform


Technology & Development Environment

The role is expected to involve technologies and approaches including:

  • Python
  • Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with the University of Galway as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Interviews will be held approximately week commencing: 15/06/2026

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, Business Information Systems, NLP, Computational Linguistics or a related discipline
  • At least one year’s experience in machine learning, NLP or software development
  • Experience developing software solutions using Python
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland/UK and travel throughout the island of Ireland/EU if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland/UK you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit will result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Developing dashboards or user interfaces using technologies such as React, Vue or Dash
  • Full-stack development experience
  • Experience developing APIs or working with integrations
  • Working with modular or scalable software architectures
  • Experience deploying prototypes or applications into testing or production environments
  • Survey data analytics or behavioural data analysis
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills
