Job Summary

This position is with BL Shutters. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 16 months; however, the employment contract is with BL Shutters and is not limited to the funding period.

BL Shutters and Doors is a leading manufacturer and installer of industrial doors across Northern Ireland and Ireland. We specialise in high-speed doors, roller shutters, and sectional doors for commercial and industrial clients. Our team is growing, and we are focused on digital transformation to support future expansion.

Job Description

The Innovation Project Manager will lead the development and rollout of a new digital logistics and job management system for BL Shutters and Doors. This role involves end-to-end responsibility for mapping existing workflows, analysing operational data, and helping design automated processes to improve scheduling, stock control, and installation planning.

The candidate will support the development of machine learning models that predict delays, optimise resource use, and identify operational inefficiencies. They will also contribute to building visual dashboards, custom digital forms, and automated alerts that enhance day-to-day decision-making. Key responsibilities include managing change across departments, delivering staff training, and ensuring successful system adoption.

Working closely with the academic partner and company leadership, the Project Manager will help embed AI, workflow automation, and data analytics at the core of business operations.

The successful graduate will lead this 16 month project, in a supportive partnership with Technological University of the Shannon as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 degree in IT/Business Computing/Computer Science, or related field
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland/UK and travel through the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland/UK you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant visa/work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with AI or machine learning concepts.
  • Understanding of cloud-based systems.
  • Experience with workflow mapping or process improvement in a business or technical setting.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using workflow automation tools (e.g. , Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier).
  • Knowledge of databases or data structures (e.g. SQL, JSON).
