Job Summary

This position is with Bevcraft Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 18 months; however, the employment contract is with Bevcraft Ltd and is not limited to the funding period.

The Bevcraft Group provides specialist process & packaging services for the craft beverage industry and today works closely with thousands of breweries and craft beverage producers across Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA.

Bevcraft Group’s services currently include contract canning, wholesale supplies, shrink sleeving, labelling, coding, and related testing services.

The company’s headquarters are based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, with multiple sites in the UK, US and Europe.

The company’s manufacturing site in Mullingar is a fully BRCGS-accredited beverage manufacturing facility which produces a range of soft drinks, cocktails, functional beverages, energy drinks, etc. The site has plans to scale capacity over the coming years, and the successful candidate will be a key part of this growth.

Job Description

The NPD Project Lead will drive the development of new beverage products and establish a structured product innovation capability within the company. The role will lead the development of three new beverage formulations and support the transition from concept through to validated products ready for commercial production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the company’s New Product Development (NPD) framework and innovation processes.
  • Manage the end-to-end development of three new beverage formulations, including white-label functional drinks, soft drinks and beverage bases.
  • Design and develop prototype beverage formulations, including ingredient selection, flavour optimisation and functional ingredient integration.
  • Plan and coordinate product development trials, including laboratory-scale prototypes and pilot-scale processing trials.
  • Conduct product testing and validation
  • Analyse trial data and refine formulations to ensure product performance, quality and manufacturability at scale.
  • Work closely with production teams to support scale-up and transfer of formulations into commercial manufacturing processes.
  • Liaise with key customers to understand technical and commercial requirements and incorporate these into product development.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant food safety, regulatory and labelling requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, development documentation and progress updates for management and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with commercial, quality and production teams to support the successful launch of new beverage products.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with CAFRE (College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

There is potential for the role to become permanent following successful project delivery.

Essential Criteria

  • Min 2.2 degree in food development/technology/science/manufacturing or other relevant 3rd level qualification.
  • Min 1 year experience in food related industry
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in an NPD role
  • Experience in a Quality Lab role
  • Experience in science or data handling for recipe development
  • Experience or knowledge of the beverage sector/manufacturing, desirable but not essential
  • Project management skills, excellent communicator and hands-on approach
  • Strong IT skills and proficient in MS Office
