Job Summary

This position is with Wall’s Honest Chips. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 18 months; however, the employment contract is with Wall’s Honest Chips and is not limited to the funding period.

Walls Honest Chips is a family-run food manufacturing business based in Whitegate, Co. Cork. Established in 2017 by Kieran Wall, the company specialises in producing high-quality chilled “chipper-style” chips made from premium Irish potatoes and traditional beef dripping. Committed to delivering authentic taste and consistent quality, Walls Honest Chips supplies its products to both the retail and food service sectors across Ireland.

Job Description

The company is experiencing a very exciting growth phase and is seeking a Food Technologist to join its team. The primary objective is to develop innovative and high-quality potato products (chips), with a specific focus on exploring new packaging formats & product coatings whilst achieving sustainable goals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a food technologist with a passion for packaging technology to play a pivotal role within a progressive company.

The role will involve: -

  • Leading the development of formal NPD processes and procedures within the company,
  • Working closely with a wider team in researching, developing and launching potato products,
  • Liaising closely with key customers, current and potential, to ensure their needs are met and commercial opportunities are grasped,
  • Continually reviewing the company’s progress in the area of NPD to ensure continued impact on revenue growth.
  • Being a key driver in transitioning to sustainable packaging.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Southern Regional College as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Essential Criteria

  • Food or Packaging related Degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in a food related role. This could be an undergraduate placement.
  • Clean Driving Licence.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a vegetable processing environment.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing role.
  • Enthusiasm and well-developed knowledge of food and ingredients.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
