Job Summary

ARQ Reliability provides reliability engineering solutions to customers in the energy, marine and pharmaceutical industries. They focus on the quality of lubricant management within a customer's machinery. Ensuring the right oil is put into the right machine at the right time and the right amount is key to the company's USP. Using laboratory analysis and online oil sensor analysis to monitor the health of a machine they ensure any reliability risks are identified on time ensuring cost-effective maintenance intervention with minimal disruption to production. Job Description

This is a new and key role within the company to design, develop and test sensor systems to allow the remote monitoring of oil lubrication systems. Specifically, the Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of IoT/sensor technology solutions and web-based predictive monitoring.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for the integration of this sensing technology into the broader sensor system for predictive monitoring associated with maintenance management.

This will include the development of associated microprocessor development involving - coding, telemetry, instrumentation (software/firmware/hardware), digital signal processing, machine learning and the ability to acquire data from the developed sensors.

The product will be developed at ARQ Reliability Cork company and the School of Engineering at the Belfast campus.

Main Duties:

  • Work closely with industry in the design, development and testing of IoT/ sensing technology.
  • Conduct ongoing literature reviews relevant to the project.
  • Design and fabricate advanced sensors and associated boards to meet the needs of the maintenance monitoring applications.
  • Test and characterise the performance of embedded sensors in monitoring the structural integrity.
  • Support the integration of embedded sensors with the broader sensing system/platform.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade and nature of the post.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Ulster University and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • BEng/MEng in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience of at least 2 years in sensor integration through development of associated hardware/firmware, instrumentation and telemetry systems
  • At least 2 years of experience in the configuration and analysis of engineering experimental setups.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Ireland and travel in UK; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Republic of Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in sensor data processing, DSP, IoT software and hardware interface experience.
  • Machine Learning experience.
  • Evidence of contributing to progress reporting within projects, initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of ability to work closely with industry partners.
  • Evidence of ability to organise and prioritise tasks and work independently as well as in teams.
  • Evidence of ability to communicate complex information verbally and in writing.
