This position is with Allied Group Ltd. The role forms part of an Innovation Boost project supported by InterTradeIreland. Salary support under the programme is provided for 18 months; however, the employment contract is with Allied Group Ltd and is not limited to the funding period.

Founded in 2017 as Allied Fleet Services Ltd, the company evolved in response to customer needs – establishing Allied Customs Services after Brexit to support its growing client base, then adding freight forwarding in 2022 to offer a full end-to-end solution. It has since rebranded as Allied Group, bringing its services together under three dedicated divisions: Allied Customs (customs clearance), Allied Freight (freight forwarding and logistics), and Allied CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism support).

Job Description
Project Overview: Allied is running an 18-month Innovation Boost project to build a new, customer-facing self-service portal for customs documentation. The successful candidate will first automate our highest-volume manual process - reading customer emails, extracting the data, preparing and filing the declaration, and returning the completed document. Then the candidate will productise the automation tool into an online self-service tool that customers trading across the NI–GB–ROI borders can use directly, creating a new recurring-revenue service (not just an internal tool).
Main duties:
- Design, build, test and deploy the automation pipeline: email intake and data extraction (Python), browser-based submission and document retrieval (Playwright), automated dispatch and audit logging.
- Architect and build the customer-facing self-service portal: containerised multi-user hosting, customer sign-up/authentication, and request tracking.
- Build a management dashboard for volumes, turnaround and exceptions.
- Harden the platform for secure multi-client use, run an external customer pilot, and support commercial launch (pricing, SLAs, onboarding).
- Create onboarding materials (videos, FAQs) and support processes; work daily with the company supervisor and academic partner.
Opportunity: This is a chance for a graduate to architect, develop, productise and expand a new software-based self-service product end-to-end, with the prospect of a permanent automation-focused role at the end of the project.
The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) as part of InterTradeIreland’s Innovation Boost Programme.
