Job Description

Purpose of the Role

To develop, deploy and embed Advanced BIM with AI tools across five integrated capabilities - automated model compliance and data-quality checking; Standard-Method-of-Measurement-aligned quantity take-off; AI-driven cost management integrated with the company's costing system; automated construction detailing and callout generation with AI compliance checking; and a unified BIM-AI decision dashboard - transferring this technology from Queen's University Belfast into the company's estimating, engineering and BIM functions through participation in InterTradeIreland's Innovation Boost Programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a model-agnostic data-extraction layer (native Revit and open IFC) with full element-level traceability.
  • Design and build the AI compliance and data-quality engine detecting duplicated, overlapping, coincident and suppressed model elements before measurement.
  • Develop automated quantity take-off with AI classification of fittings and accessories and generate Standard-Method-of-Measurement-aligned Bills of Quantities.
  • Build the AI cost-management layer: integration with the company costing system, retrieval-augmented rate suggestion, AI-assembled cost plans, and model-linked cost control (cash flow, earned value, variance).
  • Develop automated construction detailing and callout-section generation from the 3D model, with AI compliance checking on an engineer-approve-in-the-loop basis.
  • Build the BIM-AI decision dashboard integrating quantities, cost, programme and embodied carbon, with revision differencing and scenario comparison.
  • Deploy each module on live projects, benchmark against manual baselines, and evidence performance at the project's formal evaluation gates.
  • Train company staff, produce user guides and documentation, and embed the platform operationally.
  • Coordinate quarterly Project Management Group meetings and monthly steering meetings; report progress against the workplan.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) as part of the InterTradeIreland’s Innovation Boost Programme.

Interviews will be held approximately week commencing: 26/10/2026

Essential Criteria

  • Honours degree in construction-related computing, civil/architectural/building-services engineering, quantity surveying with strong digital competence, or computer science.
  • At least one year practical experience in BIM or digital construction, including Revit authoring, scheduling or model-data extraction.
  • Demonstrable basic knowledge of Python and the ability to develop BIM, automation or data-processing solutions; C# experience is desirable.
  • Practical experience of IFC/open BIM and quantity take-off, cost planning or 5D BIM workflows on at least one completed academic, research or industry project.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout Ireland as required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with Dynamo, IfcOpenShell or equivalent BIM APIs;
  • Exposure to machine learning or large-language-model development;
  • Understanding of measurement standards (NRM2), cost planning and construction commercial processes;
  • Substantial experience in Quantity Surveying;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • MSc in BIM or Digital Construction.
