Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing and Design Engineer to lead the technical development of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) for use within airports worldwide. This role involves taking the project from early design concepts through prototyping, testing, and preparation for manufacturing, working closely with suppliers, fabricators, and airport stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the design is robust, manufacturable, safe, and compliant with relevant accessibility and aviation standards, while also managing day-to-day engineering activities and guiding the project toward delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical design and development of innovative ground support equipment.

Produce and manage CAD models, drawings, and simulations, ensuring accuracy and suitability for onsite prototyping and manufacture readiness.

Oversee engineering analysis (kinematics, load cases, FEA) to validate safety and performance.

Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to integrate systems, align requirements, and resolve technical challenges.

Support the prototype build process, including sourcing, assembly oversight, and troubleshooting.

Conduct and document testing and evaluation of prototypes, recommending refinements to improve reliability, ergonomics, and compliance.

Ensure all design decisions meet airport operational requirements, accessibility standards, and safety regulations.

Contribute to the creation of fabrication guidance, assembly procedures, and maintenance documentation.

Collaborate with the wider project team on risk management, project scheduling, and change control.

Opportunities within the role

Opportunity to lead a technically challenging and socially impactful project in the aviation sector.

Hands-on experience from concept design through to manufacturing readiness. Hybrid environment between desk work and on-the-ground engineering development.

Collaborative work environment with exposure to international suppliers, airport operations and international travel.

Opportunity to progress to full time, lead role with the newly established in-house new product development & engineering department

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Technological University Dublin as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Interviews will be held approximately week commencing: 12/01/2026
