Company Introduction

Velo Coffee Roasters is a multi-award-winning roastery bringing speciality coffee to retail. Velo Coffee are Ireland’s first B Corp-certified roastery, providing 11 different blends of coffee. Velo Coffee sells its products in retail, food service and through e-commerce direct to the consumer.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be at the centre of the company’s New Product Development work, bringing at least three new products from concept to launch. You will work closely with the company, customers and partners throughout the project, with duties including:

  • Lead the development of a new functional coffee range.
  • Understand and apply relevant food safety regulations.
  • Source, review and assess new ingredients and products.
  • Manage recipe, ingredient and process changes and record all relevant information.
  • Plan and lead factory trials for products to achieve all briefed objectives on time.
  • Ensure all paperwork relevant to the project is recorded and kept up to date.
  • Organise customer visits on behalf of the company.
  • Organise and lead monthly technical meetings with the core project team.
  • Report formally every quarter on project progress.


The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with North West Regional College (NWRC) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme.

Interviews will be held approximately week commencing: 04/01/2026

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 degree in Food Technology/Science or other relevant 3rd level qualification.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit will result in your application not being considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of Food Safety & Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in an NPD/Technical role and/or drinks sector.
  • Excellent communication and good presentation skills.
  • A quick learner with a ‘hands-on’ approach.
  • Strong I.T. skills and proficiency in MS Office tools.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s work experience in a food production environment preferred.
