Job Summary

Shellfish Ireland are a seafood producer in West Cork. They are the leading supplier in Ireland of sustainable shellfish including crab, shrimp, lobster, and prawns, to the local and international markets such as France, Spain & Portugal. Products are sold in raw and cooked form, chilled and frozen through food service distributors and direct to retail.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Technologist with a passion in seafood, to play a pivotal role within a progressive company.

The role will involve:

  • Leading the development of creating a value-added range of seafood products within the company.
  • Working closely with internal and external teams in researching, developing, and launching new product ranges, with an initial focus on a new value-added seafood products.
  • Liaising closely with key customers to ensure their needs are met and commercial opportunities are grasped.
  • Working and scaling up production in house with launch of innovative new products.
  • Continually reviewing the company’s progress in the area of NPD to ensure continued impact on revenue growth.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with SOUTHERN REGIONAL COLLEGE (SRC) and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • 2.2 Degree Level or above in a Food Related Subject, Marketing or Sales.
  • Minimum of 1 year industry experience in a food related role. This could include an undergraduate placement.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Republic of Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Food Manufacturing Experience ideally with cooked value-added products.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational ability.
  • Strong attention to detail skills required.
