Job Summary

Reduction Plastics is a contract manufacturer of plastic materials based in Craigavon. While it supplies products to injection moulding and thermoforming clients, its primary product is polymer powder for rotational moulding. RPL has been serving the polymer industry since 2006.

Job Description

The successful candidate will lead the development of a new range of polymer products specifically for the injection moulding industry. This will be the first time that the company has manufactured its own granules and the project will involve substantial specification, development and testing. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in the evaluation and design of a new production line to support the manufacture of the new products. You will be supported by the company’s senior management team and academic partners from TUS.

The Polymer Process Production Engineer will be responsible for leading and giving the required technical support to the production team. While working on developing new material blends for new company markets.

  • Developing a new processing process with the aid of TUS.
  • developing SOP for current and new processing and testing equipment.
  • Training other staff members in the correct methods to test polymer blends.
  • Overseeing and developing new company polymer blends.
  • Carry out characterisation on polymer blends.
  • Liaison and negotiation with key equipment and material suppliers.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Technological University of the Shannon, Midlands Midwest (TUS) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • A degree or level 6 equivalent in Engineering or any closely related discipline.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Northern Ireland and travel throughout both North and South of Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in /Northern Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge and experience in Manufacturing in general and Polymers in particular.
  • Setting up new production lines and assembly lines.
  • Having experience in working with polymers.
  • Have experience working in a production.
  • Have experience working as a team leader in an industry setting.
