Job Summary

O.C.E. Technology is an Irish company setup to develop products and services for high-reliability embedded systems. OCE works with space companies in Europe, Aisa, and the USA. The company offers a range of software products developed in-house and radiation-hardened processors, memories, and satellite subsystems. The company has successfully completed several contracts for the European Space Agency. The company is located in the entrepreneurial and collaborative environment of NovaUCD.

Job Description

The project involves the development of highly innovative software that will shape the future of optical communications satellite technology. The successful candidate is expected to make an important contribution to design of subsystems for the satellite optical communications system. The job involves the design, implementation and test of high-reliability software written in C, some assembly language and adhering to European Space Agency standards.

Roles & responsibilities include:

  • Review suitable communication protocols for the project.
  • Lead the software design & implementation of selected protocols.
  • Develop and document tests for communications interfaces.
  • Present implementation and tests at reviews.
  • Liaise with international partners in the above activities

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Ulster University (UU) and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in computing, software engineering, electronic engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Republic of Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Proficient in C/C++ development.
  • Familiar with eclipse based GCC development environment.
  • Knowledge of real-time programming requirements, good software engineering practices and of RISC-V and ARM processor architectures.
  • Knowledge and experience of embedded systems development and tools.
  • Programming experience with communications interfaces like CAN, PCI, SPI, I2C, SpaceWire, MIL 1153B, JTAG, Ethernet, GPIO, and UART.
  • Working knowledge of software lifecycle tools e.g. Apache ANT, Jenkins automation server, Junit, Python\TCL, Linux Bash\Windows Batch.
