Modern Democracy, established in 2014 and headquartered in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, specialises in digital solutions for election management. Our flagship product, Modern Polling, is a cloud-based platform that offers features such as digital voter check-in, real-time analytics, and automated reporting. In May 2023, the technology was deployed across 3,240 polling stations in 47 council areas during local government elections in England and Wales, serving approximately 4 million voters. Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our innovative team in developing a cutting-edge real-time election day coordination software platform. The project aims to leverage artificial intelligence for anomaly detection, polling station profiling, and automation of critical election management functions. As a Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in designing, analysing, and optimising data pipelines and generating actionable insights that enhance decision-making processes during elections.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Insights
- Develop and implement methodologies for anomaly detection using historical and live data.
- Conduct statistical analyses to profile polling stations and identify deviations from expected behaviour.
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to validate data models and ensure accuracy in anomaly detection algorithms.
- Generate real-time dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights for election stakeholders.
Data Management and Integration
- Design and maintain robust data pipelines for real-time data ingestion from various Election Management Systems (EMS).
- Ensure seamless integration and compatibility of the platform with all existing EMS.
- Clean, pre-process and transform raw data into structured formats suitable for analysis.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with software developers, data engineers, and election process experts to define data requirements and analytics objectives.
- Present findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Assist in automating the generation of reports and analytics to minimise manual intervention during election operations.
The successful graduate will lead
this project, in a supportive partnership with Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.
