Job Summary

M and Q Packaging is an Irish owned manufacturer of specialist nylon films based in Limerick. The company exports worldwide with various food processing and industrial products made to the highest quality standards.

Job Description

This is a significant new role in M&Q Packaging to lead the design, development and production of pioneering products.

Main Duties:

  • Research and trial Rilsan Nylon 11 for use in soil analysis.
  • Oversee day to day production including scheduling in cooperation with Operations Manager.
  • Carry out soil sampling at a number of sites in Ireland and assess bag performance under a range of storage conditions.
  • Work closely with partners to establish suitability and research backed evidence on performance.
  • Adherence to Health & Safety and Quality standards.
  • Develop a full range of products and provide support for marketing and promotion activity.
  • Work with internal supports to develop product from manufacturing to market-ready.
  • Research potential customers and build database.


The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Queen’s University Belfast and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • BSc and/or Third Level Qualification in Biology, Chemistry, Materials Science
  • Completion of a relevant student project or placement.
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing and analysis procedures.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Ireland at time of application; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Republic of Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant higher degree.
  • Experience working in a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record in research and development of products.
  • Experience of working in an analytical laboratory
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
