Job Summary

Lightsign/ Linnos is based in Dublin and supply Sign manufactures with LED Lighting and Digital Signage solutions for integration into signs. With a particular focus on LED Digital Pricing systems for the Petrol Retail sector

Job Description

  • The role will entail leading the software development of a new digital LED sign system for the company, this will include:
  • Working within the engineering & design dept of the company.
  • Embedded Software working with Microprocessors, writing code for chipset-level devices.
  • Working on serial transmission systems such as SPI, RS-232/ RS-485 (UART).
  • Sophisticated design of own board systems.
  • Working with Strong programming skills in C programming (Bare metal programming, non-OS programming).
  • Assisting with the development, production, and launch export of new digital LED signage to export markets.


The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Southern Regional College as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 2:2 Degree in Software/ Electronic Engineering or similar.
  • Embedded Software working with Microprocessors, writing code for chipset-level devices.
  • Working knowledge of serial transmission systems such as SPI, RS-232/ RS-485 (UART).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in the Republic of Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Republic of Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working in an engineering environment.
  • Proven design experience of own board systems.
  • Strong programming skills in C programming (Bare metal programming, non-OS programming).
  • Working knowledge of serial transmission systems such as CAN-bus, Bluetooth and Ethernet and their implementation in small embedded systems.
  • PCB design and layout using CAD systems (Altium Designer, OrCAD or any other industry standard CAD package).
  • Generation of BOMs, Gerbers and reporting, handing over of project requirements to PCB manufacturers.
