Job Summary

KC Leisure and Marketing is a manufacturer of bespoke and standardised sports apparel in B2B and B2C markets and currently employs 25 people at different levels in the organisation. It is renowned for its high level of customer service and the production of high-quality items in a competitive and fast-moving market.

KCS makes significant annual investments in its people, processes and plant to develop capabilities to support the growth ambitions of the company.

KCS now plans a focused investment on infrastructure and processes, embracing new technology and best practice procedures. Operational excellence principles such as lean thinking, total quality management and six sigma key methodologies will be embedded throughout the business as part of this project.

Job Description

This role is central to the company’s growth strategy for the next 5 years and will focus on ensuring that we have the right operational excellence systems in place to support our planned expansion.

The Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing an integrated end to end operational excellence system and processes on time and on budget.
  • Improving workflow efficiency, implementing digitalisation, and developing best in class data analytics.
  • Preparation of all associated documentation.
  • Training staff so that the new system is fully transferred and embedded in the company’s operations.
  • Working closely with the academic partner and will travel to the academic institute as required.
  • Any other relevant duties.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Ulster University (UU) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Operations or Quality Management, Business and Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Project Management, or have substantive (ie 5 years or more) operational excellence experience in a relevant industrial setting.
  • 3+ years practical continuous improvement experience in manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Project and Change Management.
  • Understanding of MIS, such as Enterprise Resource Planning and supply chain planning and scheduling systems.
  • Experience/qualification in data analytics, AI, Industry 4.0, and practical experience of developing and implementing visualisation tools.
  • Practical Experience with Systems design, training and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of SAGE 50 Accounting systems.
  • Experience of the textile manufacturing and/or printing/embroidery industry.
