Job Description

Kage Engineering is seeking to recruit a dynamic Product Development Project Manager/Engineer to join our technical team. You will lead the design and development of a solution for a new product design for a commercially targeted flatpack aluminium canopy system for clients in UK/Ireland.

Working alongside the technical team, academic partners in Dundalk Institute of Technology, and various suppliers/subcontractors, you will be required to take a project from initial conception through a full product design lifecycle to achieve a full working design including development of accompanying product support documentation.

This project offers the right candidate the opportunity to lead a new product design project and develop their knowledge in design & project management activities. You will work on various concept designs with internal and external stake holders, select suitable designs, detail design structural elements to meet required standards, plan and test manufacturing processes, complete full testing of prototypes and document the product manufacturing and installation requirements.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme

and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Design or, related discipline.
  • Direct experience working in a fabrication and mechanical environment.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland and travel within ROI; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of working with industry standards and defined specifications.
  • Organised and structured way of working and ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS.
  • Good work ethic and drive to complete work with minimum supervision and within budget, quality and timescales.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in aluminium extrusion design, processing and system development.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a product development role.
  • 2 years leading delivery of engineered manufacturing projects, using AutoCAD & SolidWorks CAD.
