Breakthrough Maths is an online tutoring company currently generating over €2 million in annual revenue. We specialise in maths education for primary and secondary students, using live group lessons, interactive resources, and a tailored curriculum to deliver real results.

Now, we are taking it further, our AI-driven platform leverages student data to adapt lessons, streamline parent communication and make region-specific maths programs a reality, whether that’s Northern Ireland, England, or beyond, providing bespoke learning pathways. This technology does not just improve learning outcomes, it gives us the ability to scale internationally. Reporting back on student performance and measuring all aspects of our online lesson, is key to that.

Job Description

We are seeking a Data Analyst, skilled in data science, to drive innovation in personalised education through data analysis and advanced machine learning modelling. The role involves designing and implementing data-driven solutions to enhance student performance and parent engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Microservices Development
    • Design, implement, and maintain microservices for data preparation, feature engineering, segmentation, classification, and optimisation, using modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Spring Boot)
  • Develop APIs to enable seamless integration between services.
  • Ensure code quality through testing and code reviews.
  • Cloud Deployment and Integration
    • Deploy, monitor, and optimise microservices in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
    • Utilise containerisation and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes to manage services.
    • Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.

  • Collaboration and Support
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, QA, and product management, to deliver high-quality solutions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in development, staging, and production environments.
    • Participate in team discussions and knowledge-sharing activities.

The successful graduate will lead this project, in a supportive partnership with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the InterTradeIreland Innovation Boost Programme and will also have the opportunity to avail of a Post Graduate Diploma with Queen’s University Belfast as part of the employment offering.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2:2 degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Ireland/EU and occasional travel in Northern Ireland; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Ireland/EU you must upload a copy of it with your application.

Desirable Criteria

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Familiarity with AI and ML techniques for data analysis.
  • Experience with microservices development and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
